The research is focused on the study of degradation processes induced by welding and related technologies and the optimization of characteristics of welded joints, strength characteristics (static, fatigue, creep) of materials and their welded joints, the state of stress and distortions of welded joints and structures and methods of their reduction, characteristics of the surface layers of materials, weld deposits and coatings, carrying capacity and durability of welded structures, e.g. pressure vessels, pipes, special structures, the causes, ways and types of mechanical and corrosive disruptions.

Research into welded structures reliability is focused on the design of welded joints of the welded structures, evaluation of the technological nature of welded structures, evaluation of the residual life of the materials and welded structures, assessing the suitability of solutions for the given purpose in terms of the way they are stressed.
